In the winter of 1952, I was a second grade student at Flanders. Our bus was early and out teacher was late. Some 10 or so second graders were waiting in the hall for the teacher to arrive. Girls in the group wanted to get in the room. So I took some of the girls bobby pins and tried to pick the lock. As the teacher arrived, several bobby pins were stuck in the lock. The teacher could not get her key to open the door. The janitor had to be called to remove the door so all could get in the room. I had to go to the principal and explain my actions.
