my 57 year old son rode his bicycle up there, from my daughter's house in Mountain View, along the old RR track path... He got there too in the day, as it was in late October, and the shop was in 'Fall hours', but he works in a Bicycle Shop in NJ, and was impressed by the place. He said that if he could survive the 'Adirondack Winters', he'd love working & living up there.
I recently shopped for a new mountain bike and tried several area shops before I went to Frederick's. They turned out to be great. I got a lot of helpful information and all of my questions were answered. I got to try out any of the bikes I wanted and eventually I ended up picking one up because I thought they were a good price and loved the service. I'd tell anyone to stop in at Frederick's if you're in the market for a bike.
