If you like camping beside big rv's and 20 persons talking all night; no thanks this is not camping anymore; too bad the sites are nice and clean; awful
Great campsite. There are two sides of this campground. If you want to be more on the nature side, and a bit away from people, the west side is the site to be at. Has all the basic amenities a state run campground has. Clean showers, nice fields, etc. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Noise; noise; noise
We stayed 4 nights at site 161 right on the water. The staff and facilities were amazing. Friendly, helpful, and easy to talk to. They also displayed a vested interest in their jobs by being quick and complete with answers to questions about the park and area, all with a smile.
Sites 74-75 seem okay beside a small river to cover all the noise
The only downside were the owls! A couple just happened to land in a big pine tree at our site at 3 am, and started a very lively conversation! But, a nice long nap in the sun the next day baked away the eery memories.
As I stated in my other review it's still an amazing campground untouched over time
The Waterfront sites at Meacham Lake are the stuff of legend. Very few campsites in the Adirondacks offer swimming in fresh water a mere few feet from where you camp. Fish Creek does, but you are right on top of your neighbors in the next site. Not at Meacham. By spacing the sites as they have, there's a small patch of woods between each one, giving a very private experience.
Meacham Lake is one of the jewels of the northern Adirondacks, and our time there was amazing.
I've been bringing my kids to Meacham every year for the last 5 years. It's a great campground. I enjoy the lake side sites, but have stayed inland and also across the lake at the secluded sites. They were all very nice sites. I also find them more private than other campgrounds I've been to. It's always pretty clean, and very affordable. I wish there was more community events at the outdoor amphitheater and group activities for the kids. I hiked Debar mountain my last stay. I brought my 5 yr old. It was a long hike but the views from summit made it worth it. I'm glad they started renting kayaks, its a great addition to the canoes and row boats. Going to Meacham to kick off our summer has become our family tradition!
